Shobhina G. Chheda MD MPH is a current board member for Healthy Minds Innovations and professionally is the Associate Dean for Medical Education and professor of internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
She has had the privilege of being a primary care physician as a general internist at UW Health since 2002. Shobhina has also focused her career not only on patient and population care but also on medical education, teaching future physicians to develop skills to care for both individuals and populations.
She has received the School of Medicine and Public Health’s Dean Teaching Award and the Department of Medicine Schilling-Harkness Teaching Award. She was founding member of the national Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM) TEACH program for faculty development. She has received the Clinician Educator of the Year Award from the Midwest Society of General Internal Medicine. In 2021 she was selected to participate in the year-long prestigious Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine R (ELAM R ) program for women with highest potential for most senior level leadership. Currently, Shobhina is chair of the Alliance of Academic Internal Medicine (AAIM) Board of Directors.
As a clinician, educator, faculty member and leader she has witnessed first-hand the rise of burnout within the profession and is interested in the intersection between practices related to mindfulness to potentially prevent some of the impact of stressors in healthcare on individuals that have chosen this professional path.
